Nonprofit Assistance Available

Established in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, 40TUDE was created to respond to the needs of businesses and nonprofits that were struggling. Initially, the program was operated jointly by NIU’s Division of Outreach, Engagement, and Regional Development; the Center for Nonprofit and NGO Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; and the College of Business.

During the 2021-2022 academic year, the nonprofit student consulting team consisted of 14 paid student consultants who completed 31 projects, working a total of 841 hours. You can read more about one of those projects here, a project with Opportunity DeKalb.

Examples of completed projects:

  • Barb Food Mart “Transportation Audit”
  • Opportunity DeKalb “Social Media Strategy for Give DeKalb County”
  • Two Rivers Head Start “Data Analysis of Community Need Assessment Survey”
  • Habitat for Humanity of DeKalb County “Website Review and Recommendations”
  • Sauk Valley Food Bank “Grants Research”
  • Not-for-Profit Resources “Recommendations for Virtual Nonprofit Resource Center”

Projects are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the academic year and you can submit as many projects as you like. Submit your projects here
